WHITESPACE Series Overview
The white space represents endless creative possibilities—and we hope our quarterly event series will do the same. Whitespace events are free and include everything from lectures to workshops to good ol’ fashioned parties. Along the way, we hope to inspire, encourage, and cultivate Chicago’s creative community.
Event Overview Works in Progress: Examining the Sketchbook
Focusing on the role of sketching in the creative process, we’ll examine its use across disciplines, how it affects our work, our communication, and ourselves. The event will include a panel discussion with noted Chicago artists, some light sketching (attendees are encouraged to bring and share their sketchbooks) and time to chill out and meet other creative folks.

Chip Kidd is a designer and writer in New York City. A recipient of the National Design Award for Communications, he is also the author of two novels, “The Cheese Monkeys” and the “The Learners”, as well as co-author of the recently-published New York Times bestseller, “True Prep”. Even better, he does an uncanny impression of a new-born baby hamster reciting the opening lines of Alfred Lord Tennyson’s “The Charge of the Light Brigade.”
