Looking to inspire new choices through positive, design-centered thinking, IDEO launched the Living Climate Change initiative last fall.
Its goal is to extend the dialogue beyond policy and politics and toward inspiring, human-centered scenarios that create new possibilities for business and society.
Now IDEO is partnering with DESIGN 21 to create the Living Climate Change Video Challenge.
People of all ages are asked to craft videos that envision a sustainable future as society moves along the path toward reduced carbon emissions.
“Living Climate Change is an open invitation to designers and non-designers alike to think creatively about an issue that impacts us all,” said Jennifer Leonard, IDEO designer and co-editor of Livingclimatechange.
“Our hope is that it will stimulate the kind of dialogue that creates community, supports optimism and inspires new choices.”
The Living Climate Change Video Challenge calls for an original video that envisions how climate change will impact life on Earth over the next 20 to 30 years.

The United Nations recently declared 2010 as the International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures.
With UNESCO as the leading agency for this initiative, its mission is to: promote reciprocal knowledge of cultural, ethnic, linguistic and religious diversity; build a framework for commonly shared values; strengthen quality education and build intercultural competencies; and foster dialogue for sustainable development.
As a way to commemorate 2010 as a step towards a new and harmonious future, UNESCO teamed up with DESIGN 21 to create the Culture Counts competition.
To be considered for the competition, each entry should contain a poster design that visually illustrates the notion of “Rapprochement of Cultures” and an accompanying description.

THE HAITI POSTER PROJECT has been conceived as a collective effort by the design community to unite and effect change through our work. In order for this project to be successful, we are counting on designer participation.
