I didn’t get into design to be an artist. To me, an artist creates things to evoke emotion. Being a designer goes a step further than that, not only trying to evoke emotion but trying to make a reaction. It is very objective-driven, and that’s what makes it interesting.
Skill in the digital age is confused with mastery of digital tools, masking the importance of understanding materials and mastering the elements of form.
There are three responses to a piece of design – yes, no, and WOW! Wow is the one to aim for.
The design is an expression of the purpose. It may (if it is good design) later be judged as art.
Designers may be the true intellectuals of the future.
